Step #1: Consistency is KEY
If you want to lose weight then becoming mindful about your eating habits and your current fitness level MUST be a consistent part of your life. You can’t eat as planned for half the day and then consume anything off the plan for the rest of the day or exercise hard this week and then take the next two weeks off and expect to see results. Results come from consistency.
Don’t overthink the mode of exercise. Focus on being consistent by setting easy goals.
Step #2: Set ATTAINABLE goals
Let’s be realistic here, you aren’t going to lose 10 kilos in a week. That’s not an attainable goal! Those who achieve the most amazing body transformations do so by reaching a series of progressive, attainable goals. When setting up your training goals. Don’t overshoot and want to train 5 days per week every day. If you are brand new to exercise or you think you are totally unfit, then start with 2 sessions per week. If you do train more than 2 sessions then thats bonus for you. Remember the key is attainable goals that will not discourage your act of getting into good shape once and for all. Don’t forget to celebrate each small win every week. Setting attainable goals and hitting those goals will encourage you keep going.
Don’t give up too quickly. Keep striving and the results will come.
Step #3: Make it CONVENIENT
Are you straining to include your chosen exercise routine into your life? If your exercise time isn’t a seamless part of your week, if it causes too much of a strain and headache to accomplish, then you won’t stick with it. Find a time, a place and a modality of exercise that is as convenient to your real life as possible, so that you can be faithful to Step #1 by staying consistent and Step #2 by reaching easy goals.
Make exercise part of your routine. Don’t stray back to your old habits.
Step #4: Prep your EATING PLAN
Similar to Step #3, finding a method of eating that you ENJOY is key to making this a permanent part of your life. You may never love stopping your take-outs and cupcakes because you love food and sweet things, or you may never love drinking water because you’ve always struggled with choosing water over soda of juice. If you’re straining to get focused on eating healthy then it’s most probably due to the fact that you didn’t pre plan your day the night before. It’s best to plan how many meals you are going to eat per day and what type of meals you are going to eat. These meals must be something different that you would enjoy more. I would start off with eating 3 meals per day. Choose your meal times and stick with it according to your lifestyle. Each meal must sustain your taste bud. If you like spicy, make it spicy. If you like sweet, use stevia instead of sugar. What ever you do, do not have cereal, muffins, croissants or more than 3 slices of bread per day. And stay away from white bread for now.
Part of becoming fit and in good shape for life is learning to find a type of eating or diet that you can learn to love. The discipline of eating for nourishment, over eating because of sight, smell first, will roll over into other parts of your life and I can guarantee happiness.
